In Pokémon GO a new season begins. Here you will learn about the changes the “Season of Discovery” brings for raids, eggs, and spawns.
When does the new season start? The “Season of Discovery” starts on Tuesday, June 1st, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until Wednesday, September 1st, at 10:00 AM. It follows the ending legendary season and will determine the contents for the next three months.
The season is intended to embody the spirit of discovery and includes events like the big GO Fest 2021. You can find out what contents to expect in the coming months here.
New bosses in legendary raids
These bosses await you in legendary raids: The season of discovery starts with a return. The monsters Regirock, Regice, and Registeel will return to 5-star raids from June 1st to June 17th.
After that, the developers will announce a Pokémon in 5-star raids, whose identity is still being kept secret. More information on this will be provided at a later date.
Which monster could that be? Trainers in the Pokémon GO subreddit are already speculating that a appearance of Regigigas in the 5-star raids is possible to connect with the other Regi monsters (via reddit). So far, this was only available through an event and as an EX Raid boss in Pokémon GO. Whether it is actually the mentioned monster will become clear after the raids with Regirock, Regice, and Registeel are over.
Changes to raids: From the start of the new season, there will only be one Mega Pokémon available in Mega Raids, instead of a selection of various monsters. You can find out which Mega monsters are available at what times in the overview of all June events in Pokémon GO.
Changed spawns and eggs for the new season
These Pokémon will appear: The developers have provided a small insight into which spawns you can expect in the new season. Differences exist depending on the locations you are in and between the northern and southern hemispheres.
- In cities, monsters like Alolan Rattata, Magnemite, and Porygon will appear.
- In forests, monsters like Sunkern, Doduo, and Piloswine are expected to spawn.
- In mountains, you will find Rhyhorn, Nasgnet or Lithomith.
- By water, you can find Magikarp, Marill, Wailmer, and more.
- In the northern hemisphere, you can expect Alolan Diglett, Staryu, Feebas, Lilipup, as well as the Hoenn starters Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. Additionally, the summer form of Sawsbuck and monsters like Spiritomb, Scyther, and Toxicroak will appear.
- In the southern hemisphere, on the other hand, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Vulpix, and Shellder will appear. In addition, the Sinnoh starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup will be available. The winter form of Sawsbuck will appear, as well as Snorlax, Palpitoad, and Petilil.

Changes to eggs: The egg pool will also be adjusted. Some new monsters will be added. You can hatch the following Pokémon in the new season:
- Meditite, Bagon, Swablu, and Flabébé from 2km eggs.
- Togepi, Skrelp, Pansage, and Mawile from 5km eggs.
- Treecko, Geronimatz, Viscor, and eF-eM from 10km eggs.
- Gible, Shellos, Algitt, and Scampisto hatch from 5km eggs you received through Adventure Sync.
- Dratini, Metang, Bagon, and Riolu hatch from 10km eggs from Adventure Sync.
What else is changing? New field research tasks have been announced for the new season that are supposed to bring new rewards. Additionally, you should receive double XP for completed research breakthroughs throughout the entire season.
Just before the start of the new season, the new Season in the PvP League begins. And it even brings a new Pokémon that you can secure.
