What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday, a Spotlight Hour takes place in Pokémon GO. For 60 minutes, a Pokémon selected by Niantic is in focus, changing each week. During the event, there is a bonus affecting XP, candies, or Stardust.
In today’s event, you will encounter Zapplardin. It is a Pokémon from the fifth generation with the Electric type. You can expect a bonus that provides double candies.
Spotlight Hour on January 24th – Start, Bonuses, Shiny
When does it start? As usual, the event begins at 6:00 PM local time. It is active for one hour and ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are available? During the Spotlight Hour, you will encounter Zapplardin almost everywhere in the wild. The spawns are significantly increased. If you want even more spawns, you can light a Incense.
Additionally, you will receive double the amount of candies for catching Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Zapplardin? No, the shiny version of Zapplardin is not available in Pokémon GO. You can only catch the normal version during the Spotlight Hour today.
Is the Spotlight Hour today worth it? As attackers, Zapplardin and its evolution Zapplalek are negligible. The highest evolution, Zapplarang, does play in the upper midfield of the Super League and Hyper League.
As attackers in raids, there are many better Electric-type Pokémon that you can use.
However, the candy bonus today is still interesting. It applies not only to Zapplardin but also to other catches like raid bosses, allowing you to earn more candies there as well.
