What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday, a Spotlight Hour runs in Pokémon GO. For 60 minutes, a Pokémon is in focus, selected by the developers for the event. This is accompanied by a bonus that should make the event even more exciting.
Today, the “Spotlight Hour” focuses on the Pokémon Wingull. It comes from the third generation of games and belongs to the Water and Flying types. Additionally, there is a bonus that affects your candies.
Spotlight Hour on May 3rd with Wingull – Contents
When does it start? As you may know from other events, the start signal will sound precisely at 6:00 PM local time. The event will then be active for one hour and will end at 7:00 PM local time.
What bonuses are there? You will encounter Wingull all over the wild. Its spawns are significantly increased. If you want even more encounters with the Pokémon, you can light a incense during the event, which will mainly attract Wingull.
Additionally, you will receive double the amount of candies when catching Pokémon. So, it can also be worthwhile for you if you complete raids during the event period and then receive more candies for the caught raid bosses.
Can you catch Shiny Wingull? Yes, the shiny version of Wingull is already available in Pokémon GO. With a bit of luck, you can catch it. In the following graphic, we show you Wingull and its evolution Pelipper in the normal form and in the shiny form.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today?
Here’s what to expect: You can’t really make use of Wingull itself in raids or trainer battles. Its evolution Pelipper is useful. It performs in the Great League and Ultra League at least in the mid-range – but there are better alternatives there as well.
Thus, the Spotlight Hour today is mainly worth it for the candy bonus or if you want an “okay” performing attacker with Pelipper for the Great or Ultra League. The chance for Shinys exists, but it is not increased for the event.
