What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday evening, a Spotlight Hour starts in Pokémon GO. For the duration of 60 minutes, a Pokémon appears significantly more often in the wild. There is a bonus that can affect candies, XP or stardust. Niantic sets which combination of Pokémon and bonus it will be on a monthly basis. Every Tuesday it rotates.
Today you will encounter the Pokémon Sunkern from the second generation. Its evolution is Sunflora.
Spotlight Hour on June 20th
When does it start? As every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour starts today at 6:00 PM local time. It will be active for one hour and ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? Almost everywhere in the wild, you will encounter the Pokémon Sunkern. If you want to increase your spawns, you can light a lure.
You will also receive double the amount of candies for sending Pokémon. This counts for all Pokémon sent during the event time.

Can you catch shiny Sunkern? Yes, you can find and catch shiny Sunkern in Pokémon GO. If you’re lucky, you might catch one during today’s Spotlight Hour. However, note that the chances are not increased.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? If you are looking for strong attackers, you can safely ignore the Spotlight Hour today. Neither Sunkern nor Sunflora are fighters you need for your raids or in PvP.
However, the candy bonus is worthwhile. Those with a full collection can tidy up and send Pokémon during the event. You will at least receive double the candies. Shiny hunters can test their luck and hope for a shiny Sunkern.
