When does the event start? The spotlight hour begins today, on July 19, precisely at 6:00 PM local time and runs for 60 minutes. So by 7:00 PM, the short event is already over.
What bonuses are there? During the spotlight hour, you can encounter Staryu spawns everywhere in the wild. If that is not enough for you, you can also set a incense to attract more specimens. Additionally, you will receive double candies when sending your monsters.
Is there a Shiny Staryu? Yes, with a bit of luck, you might also encounter a shiny version of Staryu. You can recognize it by its green body.
Is the spotlight hour with Staryu worth it?
How strong is Staryu? Staryu is a water Pokémon from the first generation of games. It can be evolved into Starmie using 50 candies. However, the little starfish is not very strong. And Starmie is not really interesting in the GO battle league or raids with its average stats.
Why is the spotlight hour still worth it? Even though Staryu and its evolution are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, it is still worth taking advantage of the short event.
Staryu is one of 22 monsters that give you more stardust when caught. Depending on whether the monster has a weather boost and if you use a star piece, you can receive the following amounts of stardust when catching a specimen:

When is the weather boost available? Since Staryu is a water Pokémon, it receives a special boost when it rains.
Tip: Those who have also wanted to sort their Pokémon storage for a while should do this best before the start of the spotlight hour and give these monsters a corresponding tag.
So you can send off all sorted Pokémon right at the start of the event, securing double candies, and you will have enough time to catch Staryu.
