What is a Spotlight Hour? Every Tuesday, a one-hour event takes place for trainers in Pokémon GO. During this time, a specific Pokémon is the focus and spawns much more frequently. Additionally, players receive a special bonus that also changes weekly.
This week, the Pokémon Grimer is in the spotlight. It is a Normal type and belongs to the second generation. Trainers will also receive double Stardust for catching Pokémon during this event.
Both Grimer and its evolution Muk are not among the strongest Pokémon in the game. Both have rather average stats in attack, defense, and stamina. For this reason, they are not suitable for use in PvP battles or raids. However, shiny hunters might get their money’s worth.
Spotlight Hour with Grimer – Start Time and Bonuses
When does it start? The Spotlight Hour starts today at 6:00 PM local time and lasts exactly one hour. The event will be over by 7:00 PM local time.
This is the bonus: Besides the many Grimer you encounter during the Spotlight Hour, you can also look forward to double Stardust for catching Pokémon.
Is there a shiny Grimer? Yes, the shiny variant of Grimer has been available in Pokémon GO for some time. You can recognize it by its pink color.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? Yes, even though both Grimer and Muk are not among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, you should take advantage of this Spotlight Hour.
Since you will receive double Stardust for catching Pokémon during this hour, you should try to catch as many as possible. Stardust is one of the most important currencies in the game. So you will get 200 Stardust instead of 100 for each caught Pokémon.
With this Stardust, you can level up your Pokémon, but you also need it for trading with friends or for redeeming Shadow Pokémon. Therefore, it is advisable to earn as much of it as possible. To maximize the benefits of the Spotlight Hour, you can also use a Star Piece. This will further increase the Stardust by 50 percent.
The current event makes the Spotlight Hour worthwhile for catching in terms of XP as well. Currently, you receive quadruple catch XP due to the Bidoof event. Additionally, you have the chance to catch a shiny Grimer with a bit of luck.
