Spotlight Hour on May 9th: Start, Shiny, Bonuses
When does the Spotlight Hour start? The Spotlight Hour starts as usual at 6:00 PM. At this time, the event spawns will be activated until the normal spawns reappear at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are available? Ponyta spawns significantly increased, and by activating incense, you can trigger additional encounters.
Furthermore, you receive double candy for each catch. Important: This applies not only to Ponyta but also to every other Pokémon. So you can also try your luck with raids and for example, defeat Kapu-Kime, or special spawns like
- Meltan with the Mystery Box
- Purmel from postcards for Vivillon
- Gierspenst with the Coin Bag to trigger and collect candies.
Tip: With Sananabeeren, you can double the amount of candy per catch again.

Can you catch shiny Ponyta? Yes, the shiny variant of Ponyta is available. Through evolution, you can also get shiny Gallopa. However, keep in mind that the shiny rate is not increased during the Spotlight Hour.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Ponyta and Gallopa are not important Pokémon for raids and gyms, nor for PvP battles. It is more worth it if you want to try your luck in search of the shiny. Although the rate is not increased, you will at least find numerous spawns.
Otherwise, the candy bonus is particularly exciting if you can catch other monsters for which the double bonus is worthwhile.
