Today marks the last Spotlight Hour of November in Pokémon GO featuring Piplup. We at MeinMMO have summarized what bonuses to expect and whether the event is worth it.
What kind of event is this? Today, November 30, 2021, trainers in Pokémon GO will again have a Spotlight Hour. This is a weekly short event where a specific Pokémon takes center stage. This Pokémon spawns more frequently in the wild and gives you an additional special bonus.
This week marks the last Spotlight Hour in November, featuring the Water-type Pokémon Piplup. Additionally, you’ll have a special candy bonus.
Spotlight Hour with Piplup – Start Time, Bonuses, and Shiny
When does the event start? As with every Tuesday, the event starts at 6:00 PM local time. You will then have an hour to take advantage of the bonus and catch as many Piplup as possible. The event ends at 7:00 PM local time.
What bonuses are available? During the Spotlight Hour, you will encounter wild Piplup everywhere. Using incense, you can also attract more specimens. In addition, the short event offers double candies for catching Pokémon.
Is Piplup available as Shiny? Yes, Piplup can also be found in its shiny variant in the game. With a bit of luck, you may encounter one. It has a slightly lighter blue body compared to the normal variant.
Is the Spotlight Hour with Piplup worth it?
How strong is it: Piplup is a Water-type Pokémon from Generation 4 and is one of the starter Pokémon of the Sinnoh region, alongside Turtwig and Chimchar. It can evolve into Empoleon via Prinplup.
However, the Pokémon is not that strong. Its two evolutions do not play a significant role in raids and the PvP league. Only Empoleon would be a solid option for the Great League, but there are better alternatives available (via pvpoke.com).
Who is the Spotlight Hour worth it for? Piplup is especially interesting for shiny hunters. They will definitely get their fill today. Trainers looking for a strong Pokémon for raids or the PvP league will likely not find what they’re looking for today.
And the candy bonus is probably also uninteresting for many trainers today. However, those who still want to take advantage of it can alternatively open their Mystery Box during the Spotlight Hour to farm some Meltan candies. Just be careful not to set additional incense, as that won’t work.
Will you participate in the Spotlight Hour with Piplup today? Or would you rather skip this week? Feel free to share your opinion with us here on MeinMMO in the comments.
Tomorrow marks the start of the Season of Origins in Pokémon GO and has trainers speculating about a release for Arceus. We have looked at what has happened and will show it to you.
