Today, on February 7th, the Spotlight Hour with Pidgey starts in Pokémon GO. We show you everything about shinies, bonuses, and the event times.
What kind of event is this? On Tuesday evening, Pokémon GO has the scheduled date for a Spotlight Hour. During this time, a special Pokémon is in focus from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which changes every week. At the beginning of a month, the Niantic team announces which monsters will be in focus during the following weeks.
Each event is accompanied by a bonus that either gives you more XP, more candy, or more stardust. Today you will encounter the Pokémon Pidgey from the first generation. It is a Normal and Flying-type and can evolve into Pidgeotto and Pidgeot.
Spotlight Hour on February 7th – Start, Bonuses, Shiny
When does it start? As you know from these events, this Spotlight Hour also starts at 6:00 PM local time. It is then active for one hour and ends at 7:00 PM local time.
What bonuses are there? You will encounter Pidgey almost everywhere in the wild in Pokémon GO. The encounters are significantly increased. If you want to find even more specimens, you can help yourself by using incense.
Additionally, you will receive double the amount of experience points for evolving Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Pidgey? Yes, the shiny version of Pidgey has already been unlocked in Pokémon GO. With some luck, you can catch it today during the Spotlight Hour. However, keep in mind that the shiny chances, unlike during a Community Day, are not increased.
Is the Spotlight Hour today worth it? If you’re interested in PvP, then Pidgeot is a good choice for the Great and Ultra League. Those who prefer to raid will find Mega Pidgeot to be a good attacker. It is worth securing a few strong Pidgey specimens for PvP and PvE and then evolving them.
