What is a Spotlight Hour? This event takes place every Tuesday in Pokémon GO. During this hour, a Pokémon is highlighted and a special bonus rounds off the event.
This week is all about the Fighting-type Pokémon Mankey. This is fitting, as the Rival Week is also currently running, which focuses on Fighting-type Pokémon.
Spotlight Hour with Mankey – Start Time and Bonuses
When does it start? The Spotlight Hour runs from 6:00 PM for exactly one hour. At 7:00 PM the increased Mankey will disappear again and the normal spawns will return.
These are the bonuses: As usual for the Spotlight Hour, the spawns are generally increased. You will find significantly more Pokémon, most of which will be Mankey.
Additionally, this time you will receive double the amount of XP when evolving Pokémon.
Is there Shiny Mankey? Yes, you can catch the Shiny form of Mankey in Pokémon GO for a long time now. So, if you haven’t had luck in your Shiny search so far, you should take this chance this time.
Is the event worth it? Mankey and its evolution Primeape do not play a significant role in the meta of Pokémon GO. They are not among the best attackers in the game. It becomes really interesting only for Shiny hunters who want to secure a shiny Mankey.
Moreover, the bonus is quite worthwhile. You can use the hour to evolve some Pokémon. You can easily earn over 100,000 XP if you also use a Lucky Egg during that time.
