What kind of event is this? In Pokémon GO, Tuesday evenings are reserved for the spotlight hours. These are hour-long events that focus on a Pokémon selected by Niantic and are accompanied by a bonus. Pokémon and bonuses change from week to week.
Today, you can expect Knacklion from the third game generation along with a bonus that affects your experience points.
Spotlight Hour on April 18th: Start, Shiny, and Bonuses
When does it start? As you may know from these events, the spotlight hour today starts at 6:00 PM. An hour later, at 7:00 PM, the event will be over again.
What bonuses are there? During the event, you will encounter Knacklion almost everywhere in the wild. The creature can evolve into Vibrava and eventually into Libelldra. If you want to increase your encounters with Knacklion even more, you can activate a smoke.
You will also receive double the amount of experience points for evolving Pokémon.

Can you catch Shiny Knacklion? Yes, the shiny form of Knacklion has been activated in Pokémon GO and is catchable. However, keep in mind that the chances are not increased during a RL hour. You will need a lot of luck.
Is the spotlight hour worth it today? Looking at the family of Knacklion, the final evolution Libelldra is the most useful. In PvP, it plays in the lower middle tier in the Super League and even in the upper middle tier in the Hyper League.
If you are looking for strong attackers for raids, then today’s spotlight hour is not ideal for that.
