What is a Spotlight Hour? Every Tuesday, Pokémon GO hosts a one-hour event highlighting a specific Pokémon that spawns everywhere in the wild. This Pokémon is accompanied by an additional bonus designed to enhance the event.
Today is the day again when you can encounter the Normal and Psychic-type Pokémon Girafarig from Generation 2. When it spawns in the wild and what bonuses it brings you, we have summarized below.
Spotlight Hour on September 19 – Start, Bonuses & Shiny
When does the Spotlight Hour start? As with every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour is also today, September 19, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? During the one-hour event, you can primarily encounter Girafarig in the wild. If the spawns are not enough for you, you can attract more specimens by activating a smoke.
Additionally, during this time, you will receive double XP when catching Pokémon. This applies not only to the Normal and Psychic-type Pokémon but also to all other creatures in the game that you can catch. You can also alternatively play raids or trigger the mystery box.

Is there a shiny Girafarig? Yes, with a bit of luck you can also encounter a shiny version of Girafarig. However, keep in mind that the shiny chance is not increased during the Spotlight Hour. If you discover a corresponding specimen, you will recognize it by its striking blue nose.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it? Girafarig is not particularly strong as an attacker in raids and the PvP league, and therefore is rather uninteresting. The Spotlight Hour is thus mainly worthwhile because of the XP bonus when catching. A lot is needed on the way to level 50. Additionally, shiny hunters will also get their money’s worth during this short event.
