What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday, a Spotlight Hour starts in Pokémon GO. For 60 minutes, a Pokémon chosen by Niantic appears much more frequently in the wild and is accompanied by a bonus. The combination of Pokémon and bonus is set by the developers at the beginning of each month.
In today’s event, you will encounter the Pokémon Geronimatz and receive double Stardust for catching Pokémon.
Spotlight Hour on July 4
When does it start? As with every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour today starts again at 6:00 PM. The event is active for one hour and ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? If you play during the event time, you will encounter Geronimatz almost everywhere in the wild. If you want to further increase the encounters, you can activate incense.
Additionally, you will receive double Stardust for catching Pokémon. So it’s a good opportunity to stock up on this resource.

Can you catch Shiny Geronimatz? Yes, the shiny form of Geronimatz is already active in Pokémon GO and can be caught by you. However, keep in mind that the chances are not increased during the Spotlight Hour. So you will need a lot of luck.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Geronimatz is not particularly attractive as an attacker. Its evolution, Washakwil, unfortunately, is also not one of the strong Pokémon. It reaches barely the lower midfield in PvP at the Super and Hyper League. There are definitely stronger alternatives.
So participating in today’s Spotlight Hour is mainly worthwhile for the Stardust bonus.
