In Pokémon GO, the spotlight hour with Tarnpignon begins today, January 30, 2024. You should definitely participate if you need Stardust.
What kind of event is this? The spotlight hour occurs every Tuesday in Pokémon GO. A specific Pokémon appears in all corners of the game for 60 minutes. Each week, a special bonus is added.
This week, the event Pokémon is Tarnpignon. However, the most important aspect of the spotlight hour this time is the Stardust.
Spotlight hour on January 30, 2024, with Tarnpignon – Bonuses and times
When does it start? The spotlight hour starts at 6:00 PM. At this time, almost all spawns in the wild will be Tarnpignon. At 7:00 PM, the regular spawns will return.
What bonuses are there? Tarnpignon will appear everywhere, but if you need even more Tarnpignon spawns, incense will attract additional specimens during this hour.
Additionally, you will receive double Stardust for every catch. That’s already a good bonus, but it’s not the only one regarding Stardust.
That’s why Tarnpignon is great for Stardust: Tarnpignon is among the Pokémon that generally provide more Stardust per catch.
For an overview:
- Tarnpignon gives 500 Stardust per catch. The double bonus increases that to 1,000.
- If you use a Star Piece, it’s 1,500 Stardust per catch tonight.
- If a weather bonus is active, you can even reach 1,875 Stardust per Tarnpignon catch with a Star Piece. 1,250 is the amount without a Star Piece with a weather bonus.
Is there a Shiny Tarnpignon? Yes, the Shiny variant is also available. However, the chance of encountering it during the spotlight hour is not increased, so you will need a lot of luck to find it.

Is the spotlight hour worth it today?
Tarnpignon itself is not particularly exciting as an attacker, and its evolution Hutsassa is not relevant in raids or the battle league. If you’re looking for strong attackers in Pokémon GO, this is not your hour.
However, the Stardust bonus is very helpful, as Stardust is always needed in Pokémon GO: for leveling up, purifying, or learning new moves. Therefore, if you need Stardust, you should definitely mark your calendar for 6:00 PM today.
What’s happening in Pokémon GO? Currently, the big Rocket takeover is happening in Pokémon GO, bringing Crypto-Kyogre for Giovanni and plenty of new Cryptos with the other Rockets. Additionally, this is a crucial time as you’re currently getting rid of the move “Frustration.” Why this is so important will be explained here.
