In Pokémon GO there is a spotlight hour starting today, on May 11, featuring Dratini. We will show you the bonuses of the event and analyze for whom it is worth participating.
What is a spotlight hour? Every Tuesday evening, an event of this kind takes place in Pokémon GO. For the duration of 60 minutes, a Pokémon is in the spotlight and spawns almost everywhere in the wild. This is accompanied by a bonus that makes the hour even more attractive.
This week, you will encounter Dratini at the event. It is a Dragon type and can evolve into Dragonair and later into Dragonite.
Spotlight Hour with Dratini – Start Time and Bonuses
When does it start? As you may know from the past weeks and months, the spotlight hour starts again today at 6:00 PM local time. In the game, you will notice that Dratini will appear everywhere around you, and the other Pokémon will swap out.
You will have an hour to take advantage of these special spawns. Around 7:00 PM, the Pokémon in the wild will match the current fairy event again.
Here is the bonus: In addition to the many Dratini spawns, you will get a candy bonus during the event that affects your Pokémon transfers. You will receive double the candies for sending Pokémon.
This bonus also counts for Pokémon that you caught before the event and are only now sending.
In the early days of Pokémon GO, this Pokémon was particularly popular, as at that time Dragonite could show its full strength and shine. In February 2018, Dratini had its Community Day (if you enjoy a bit of nostalgia, read our article about the Community Day with Dratini.)
By now, there are much stronger dragons in the game. But Pinktini and the shiny family are still popular among trainers as collectible Pokémon.
Is there a shiny Dratini? Yes, you can catch shiny Dratini in Pokémon GO since 2018. Today during the spotlight hour, you have the same chance.
Is the spotlight hour worth it today? From two perspectives, the spotlight hour is definitely worth it for you today. If
- you are looking for shiny Dratini
- you have saved Pokémon that you want to send with the candy bonus
Additionally, there is currently a bonus that gives you triple experience points for catching Pokémon. Since you can catch Dratini relatively easily and thus achieve great throws, you are looking at a lot of experience points.
You can therefore gain a lot of bonuses. Moreover, Dragonite is currently learning Draco Meteor when you evolve it.
