What kind of event is this? Every Tuesday, a Spotlight Hour takes place in Pokémon GO. The 60-minute event focuses on a special Pokémon that appears very frequently in the wild. This is accompanied by a bonus. Each month, Niantic changes which Pokémon is activated with which bonus on Tuesday.
Today, the Pokémon Alolan Geodude awaits you, and you will receive double the amount of experience points for catching Pokémon. In the overview, we show you all the details.
Spotlight Hour on May 2nd: Start, Shiny and Bonuses
When does it start? As you already know from the last events of this kind, the Spotlight Hour begins at 6:00 PM. It is then active for one hour and ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are there? During the event, you will encounter Alolan Geodude almost everywhere in the wild. It is of the Rock and Electric types and can evolve into Alolan Graveler and Alolan Golem. If you activate a lure, you can increase your encounters even more.
Additionally, you will receive double the amount of experience points for catching Pokémon. This counts for all Pokémon you catch during the event time.

Can you catch shiny Alolan Geodude? Yes, shiny Alolan Geodude are already active in Pokémon GO. With luck, you can catch them today. However, keep in mind that the shiny chances are not increased today.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Alolan Geodude and Graveler are not particularly important for you as a fighter. However, the final evolution stage, Alolan Golem, is already more interesting. It plays in the mid-range of the best raid attackers and can excel in PvP in the Super League in the upper mid-range.
