In Pokémon GO, the Spotlight Hour with Alolan Rattata starts today, May 18, 2021. We will show you the XP bonus and explain who benefits from the event tonight.
What is a Spotlight Hour? Every Tuesday evening, such an event takes place in Pokémon GO. For the duration of one hour, a Pokémon is in the spotlight and spawns almost everywhere in the wild. This is accompanied by a bonus that makes the hour even more attractive for you trainers.
Today, Alolan Rattata is basking in the spotlight, bringing a bonus that affects your experience points. The Alolan form of Rattata has been in the game for years.
Spotlight Hour with Alolan Rattata – Start Time and Bonuses
When does it start? If you have visited these events before, you already know the times. The event kicks off at 6:00 PM and runs until 7:00 PM.
During this time, wild Alolan Rattatas will spawn all around you. After the event ends, the Pokémon from the Illuminating Legends Y event will once again spawn in the wild.
This is the bonus: Alongside the numerous Alolan Rattata spawns, you will also benefit from an XP bonus during the event. You will receive double the experience points for evolutions you perform during the event period.
This bonus also applies to Pokémon that you caught before the event and are now evolving.
In summer 2018, Alolan forms were introduced to Pokémon GO. It all started with Alolan Exeggutor, which towered over the map with its long necks.
A little while later, Alolan Rattata was added, along with other regional forms, which even appeared in raids. An analysis from 2019 showed how rare the Alolan forms were at that time.
Is there a Shiny Alolan Rattata? Yes, you can catch some Alolan forms in Pokémon GO as Shiny, including Alolan Rattata.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? Yes, especially if you are interested in the new research on the “Illuminating Legends Y” event. For the research tasks, you need to defeat Dark-type Pokémon from time to time. With this Spotlight Hour, you will have more than enough spawns for that.
If you have also saved some Pokémon that you want to evolve, you will get an XP boost during the event. This is worthwhile if you are still on the way from level 40 to 50 and need experience points.
Even shiny hunters will benefit from the event today. Those who have not had luck yet can catch the shiny form of Alolan Rattata this evening.
With a bit of luck, you can also progress on your medal, for which you need to catch tiny Rattatas.
Will you participate in the Spotlight Hour today or skip the event this time? Feel free to share your reasons here in the comments on MeinMMO and exchange thoughts with other trainers in our community.
Next week, the Water-type Pokémon Marill will be in the spotlight for you. Although it recently had a research day, it will again appear more frequently for one hour.
