What event is it about? Every Tuesday, Pokémon GO hosts a so-called Spotlight Hour, during which a pre-determined Pokémon can be found in the wild for 60 minutes. An additional bonus enhances this short event.
Today is the day again, and during the Spotlight Hour you can encounter Abra. The Psychic Pokémon originates from the first generation of games and can evolve into Kadabra and then into Alakazam. Alakazam also has a Mega Evolution. We have summarized the additional bonus of today’s event and whether it’s worth it for you below.
Spotlight Hour on May 14 – Start, Bonuses, and Shiny
When does the Spotlight Hour start? Like every Tuesday, the Spotlight Hour today, May 14, 2024, will also start promptly at 6:00 PM local time. It will be active until 7:00 PM.
What bonuses can you expect? During the one-hour event, you will be able to encounter wild Abra everywhere in the game. If the spawns are not enough, you can attract additional specimens using incense.
The Psychic Pokémon is accompanied by an XP bonus. You will receive double the amount of experience points for evolving Pokémon.
Is there Shiny Abra? Yes, with a bit of luck, Abra can be caught as Shiny during the Spotlight Hour. You can recognize it by its slightly lighter body. However, note that the Shiny chance is not additionally increased, unlike during Community Day.
Is the Spotlight Hour with Abra worth it? Abra and its evolutions are not particularly strong. They do not play a significant role in the GO Battle League and in raids. Only the Mega Evolution can convince as a strong Psychic Pokémon in raids and is among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.
During the event, primarily Shiny hunters will benefit.
