Spotlight Hour on March 19 – Start, Bonuses & Shiny
When does the event start? The Spotlight Hour starts today, like every Tuesday, right at 6:00 PM. You have one hour to take advantage of the short event content, until it ends at 7:00 PM.
What bonuses are active? During the one-hour event, you can encounter Vulpix, Quapsel, Schneppke, and Hippopotas everywhere in the wild. If the regular spawns are not enough, you can attract more specimens with the help of incense. The event is rounded off with an XP bonus for catching Pokémon. During this time, you will earn double experience points for each Pokémon you catch.
Is the Spotlight Hour worth it?
What kinds of Pokémon are they? Vulpix, the fire Pokémon, and Quapsel, the water Pokémon, are two monsters from the 1st game generation. Vulpix can evolve into Vulnona. Quapsel has two additional evolutions beyond its first evolution Quaputzi, which you can choose from: Quappo and Quaxo.
On the other hand, Schneppke is an ice Pokémon from the 3rd game generation, which can evolve into Firmontor or Frosdedje depending on its gender. The ground Pokémon Hippopotas, from the 4th generation, only has one evolution into Hippoterus.
Can you catch the Pokémon as Shiny? Yes, you can catch all four monsters in their shiny form with a bit of luck. However, unlike during Community Days, the chances are not additionally increased.
Who benefits from the event? The Spotlight Hour is particularly worthwhile today for trainers who want to hunt for shinies. The bonus also allows for easy XP farming while catching Pokémon. This can also be used for other monsters you catch during this time. So if you are not interested in Vulpix, Quapsel, Schneppke, and Hippopotas, you could light a mystery box instead.
If you are looking for a strong specimen for raids or the GO Battle League, the four monsters are probably not what you want. None of them or their evolutions are ranked among the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Quappo and Hippoterus are merely solid alternatives for the GO Battle League.
