In Pokémon GO, the exclusive raids featuring Mewtwo as a raid boss will be coming soon. These raid battles are only for trainers who receive an invitation. The first invitations will be sent out soon to a test group.
The exclusive raid battles in Pokémon GO are designed for trainers who regularly participate in raids. They are intended to be a reward for the raid trainers.
Exclusive raids work similarly to the normal ones. A raid boss appears in a gym, and you defeat it together with other trainers. The only difference between exclusive raids and normal raids: trainers need an invitation for the exclusive raids.
To receive such an invitation, you must have participated in a raid battle “recently.” When the exclusive raid boss appears in that gym, you can participate in the raid with the invitation.

Exclusive raids are now called EX-Raid battles: First invitations will be sent out on September 6th
Niantic has renamed the exclusive raids to EX-Raid battles. They are currently in a practical test. Niantic has already collected early feedback.
Now the developers want even more feedback on the EX-Raids and involve the community. During this test phase, Niantic will continuously adjust the EX-Raids. The developers particularly want to focus on the following factors:
- Participation conditions
- Frequency
- Times
- Locations
- Duration
- Rewards
- Overall enjoyment of trainers who regularly participate in raids
The first EX-Raid passes will be sent out on September 6th. Niantic hopes to receive constructive feedback from this test group through various social media platforms.
