The Trainer battles start this month in Pokémon GO and are already being discussed actively. In the community, it’s said that players with multiple accounts would have an advantage because they can battle against themselves from home and thus earn more rewards. But is that really true?
Multi-Account players have no advantage
Why should Multi-Account players have an advantage? Critics argue that players with multiple accounts also receive more rewards. They could easily battle against themselves and accumulate even more rewards. Other players would always have to find a partner to fight with.
Is there this advantage? In the Trainer battles, Niantic paid special attention to fairness. There are two good reasons why Multi-Account players have no advantage in PvP.
1. You can battle against Ultra Friends anywhere
Where can you challenge your opponent? To battle against another trainer, you do not always have to be face to face. PvP does not work like trading, where you must be within 100 meters of each other. If you are at least Ultra Friends with your opponent, you can battle each other from home. It doesn’t matter how far apart you are.
Does a Multi-Account player have an advantage? A Multi-Account player can easily battle against themselves, but other players can just as easily battle against their Ultra Friends. You just need to find an Ultra Friend who is available, and you can battle. Therefore, there is no advantage for players with multiple accounts.
2. You can only receive a maximum of three rewards per day
How do you receive the rewards? When you complete a Trainer battle, both players receive rewards. This also includes the Sinnoh Stone. Per day, you can receive rewards from Trainer battles three times. After that, you can still participate in these battles, but without rewards.
Does a Multi-Account player have an advantage? It does not benefit a Multi-Account player to battle as often as they want against themselves. After three battles, the rewards are over.
PvP is designed for every player to have the same opportunities. Players with multiple accounts do not have any advantages there. So if you only have one account, you can look forward to Trainer battles just as much as Multi-Account players.
