In Pokémon GO you might soon be able to look forward to new monsters and balls, as they show current finds. We at MeinMMO have taken a look at what it is about and explain it to you.
What finds are we talking about? In Pokémon GO, the Pokéminers, a group of dataminers, regularly search the game code for new information. They eventually make this public on their homepage and social networks.
Now the Pokéminers have once again searched for changes and have come across new Pokémon, as well as a new ball and symbols in the game.
These are the new finds
The Ultra Ball: As Reddit user martycochrane reports in his post, the Pokéminers have come across new symbols and items in the game during their current search. For instance, you can see a new “epic” level 5 raid egg in the image in his post. Furthermore, new flower petals and grass, as well as game hints, have been added to the game.
However, particularly striking is a special blue-yellow ball in the upper left corner. This is called an “Ultra Ball,” which is better for catching Ultra Beasts. It is said to create a special effect that can also be seen in the Pokéminers’ graphic.
Also in the anime and in the Pokémon games “Sun and Moon,” you can find this Ultra Ball. If you want to catch an Ultra Beast with it, this ball is about 5 times more effective than a normal Pokéball. However, it is slightly harder to catch other Pokémon with this ball, as the catch chance is only 0.1.
Additionally, the PokéMiners share on Twitter that this item has been added as an object in the game, but with access from level 100. However, this cannot currently be reached by trainers. Whether and when the item will be added to the game remains to be seen.
Two new Pokémon found
However, the find surrounding the Ultra Ball was not the only news that the Pokéminers discovered in the game code. They also found two new Pokémon from the 8th generation of games: Axantor and Ursaluna.
Anyone who plays the main Pokémon series on the Nintendo Switch alongside Pokémon GO already knows these two monsters from Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
What kind of Pokémon is Axantor? Axantor is a Bug and Rock-type Pokémon. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it evolves from Scyther using a Black Augite, a special item.
You can recognize Axantor by its large, brown, grasshopper-like body. It also prominently features the axes it carries as hands on both arms.

What kind of Pokémon is Ursaluna? The Ground and Normal-type Pokémon Ursaluna also comes from the 8th generation of games and can evolve from Teddiursa and Ursaring. It uses a peat block during a full moon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Ursaluna visually resembles a large bear with brownish fur. Its golden yellow round spot on its forehead appropriately resembles a full moon, fitting its name.

“Hopefully this is a sign for more.”
In the reddit community, the two finds are being received very well. Even though there was already the first Ultra Beast to catch at GO Fest 2022, many trainers are now hoping for more. You can read the following in the comments on reddit:
- tkcom: “The first new ball since the Premier Ball in 2017.”
- TheMadJAM: “Hopefully this is a sign for more.”
- 128thMic: “I wonder if this new ball will replace the balls in which Anego was caught, or if they will just be one-time items.”
- ArcanineFan01: “It seems strange to introduce Ultra Balls now and not when Anego was in raids, but at least they added it.”
- DarkKnightMcKenyan: “Finally a new ball, and it makes sense.”
Some trainers would also be happy about the new Pokémon and are already speculating in the comments about how to evolve them (via reddit.com):
- KonoPez: “I wonder what evolution method they will use? Sinnoh Stone would make sense for them and Snieboss. I am sure that Salmagnis, Damythir, and Myriador will be long quests.”
- electric_emu: “A Sinnoh Stone would make sense, but we hope that Niantic does not try to repeat the hassle of acquiring the peat block and waiting for the full moon for Ursaluna as in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.”
- davebybab: “I was lucky to keep a lot of decent Scyther before Legends: Arceus, hopefully Axantor is useful.”
JRE47 is already thinking about the movesets and writes:
My initial thoughts
There are still many unknowns, but here is the good news:
Ursaluna will almost certainly have Shadow Claw (the only other fast moves it can learn are Stone Edge and Tackle), and it has some excellent charge moves. If it doesn’t come equipped with Hyper Beam and Air Slash, it looks good!
Axantor has a bit more potential to get stuck with poor fast moves (Air Slash & Smack Down), but if it gets Psycho Cut or even Quick Attack, it should be okay. As for the attack moves, we have Close Combat and all those. There’s potential here.

As always, the finds of the Pokéminers are not official information. Even if this data has mostly been confirmed in the past, Niantic can still change it or decide not to bring it into the game.
As soon as there is more information on a possible release, you will of course hear about it from us at MeinMMO.
What do you think of the new monsters and the Ultra Ball? Are you hoping they will be introduced into the game soon? Or would you have preferred other things? Let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO and exchange ideas with other trainers on this topic.
This weekend, the Community Day featuring Kapuno will take place and provide you with a special surprise. Pokémon GO is bringing back level 4 raids, but with a restriction. We looked at what that is.
