If you regularly play Pokémon GO, you have surely already noticed the different backgrounds in the Pokémon storage overview. Most Pokémon normally have no background there, but some stand out with a blue one. We will show you what this means.
Which backgrounds are we talking about? When you click on your Pokémon storage, an overview of all the monsters you have captured and that are still in your bag opens.
At first glance, everything looks very uniform in this overview, as the monsters actually have no own background. Actually – because those who take a closer look will find Pokémon that are adorned with a blue background.
Why are some Pokémon highlighted in blue?
This question comes up repeatedly on social networks, and especially new players wonder why some monsters have a blue background in the overview while others do not. As you can see in the image below, only individual Pokémon are marked in blue:
But what is behind it? The fact that individual monsters are highlighted in blue is due to the time when a Pokémon was caught. All Pokémon you caught in the last 24 hours are marked in your Pokémon storage this way. Once a monster has been in your storage for longer, this background disappears again.
And what does this visual distinction bring you? Primarily, the representation serves you for quicker differentiation of which monster you caught when. This can be particularly interesting for trainers who regularly evaluate and send their Pokémon. This way, they can see at a glance which Pokémon are new and still need to be evaluated.
But this function can also be useful for trading after certain events, such as a Community Day. If you want to trade a monster with a special attack that was only available on that day, you can directly distinguish these Pokémon from those captured earlier.
However, this representation does not have a deeper function. In addition, in Pokémon GO you have further options to filter by the age of Pokémon without relying on the blue background.
Further filtering options in Pokémon GO
Those who regularly evaluate monsters in Pokémon GO are surely familiar with the filtering options in the Pokémon storage. However, here only a selection of frequently used filters is available. If you want to sort your monsters by a certain time period, you will not find it there.
So that you do not have to rely on the blue background color to recognize monsters from the last 24 hours, you can also use the following filter function:
- Age0
You can of course change this function as desired. If you replace the 0 with a 1, it will show you all Pokémon that you caught in the last 48 to 24 hours. So if you want to send or trade certain monsters, you can search specifically this way.
Furthermore, if you want to filter by a certain value, it is also possible to add this. It could look like this: Age0 & 1*.
With the help of this filter function, you are not dependent on a period of 24 hours during which the background shines blue, but can also go back several days in time.
