In Pokémon GO we may soon see more Galar Pokémon. Niantic has shown teasers for two more monsters from the Galar region on social media.
What happened: As of yesterday evening, October 21, the teasers began. There, Professor Willow spoke of a colorful Pokémon he has sighted.
A few hours later, images were shown: It is Galar-Ponyta.
Then came another teaser: An image of a leek was shown. This is the trademark of Galarian Farfetch’d, and in the Galar region, this Pokémon gets an evolution.

Reasons for Galar-Ponyta: Pictures have already been shown. It is considered certain that we will see this Pokémon in the game soon. The only question is when that will be. After all, until early November, there is the big Halloween event. A colorful Pokémon doesn’t really fit in.
Reasons for Galar-Farfetch’d: The leek definitely points to Farfetch’d. The Galar form has only appeared briefly in the game and disappeared after 24 hours.
Now it could return with this hint and possibly herald an event together with Galar-Ponyta.
The evolution Leek-styled has not yet been seen in Pokémon GO, even though we have been able to catch Galar-Farfetch’d. So we might expect the evolution soon.
How strong is Galar-Ponyta? Shortly after the first teasers about Galar-Ponyta, data miners found the stats of that Pokémon in the game’s code. Since Ponyta itself isn’t very strong, let’s take a look at Galarian Rapidash:
- Attack: 207
- Defense: 162
- HP: 163
It gets particularly interesting with the moves. Galarian Rapidash is a Psychic and Fairy type and learns, among others, the move combination of Psycho Cut and Body Slam. This is interesting for PvP fans, as these are fast moves that put pressure on the opponent in battle.
In raids, however, the Pokémon is not very exciting. Its stats are too weak, and its moves are not strong enough.
How strong is Galar-Farfetch’d? It’s similar here. Since Farfetch’d won’t be that strong, let’s take a look at the Leek-styled evolution:
- Attack: 248
- Defense: 176
- HP: 158
- Max CP: 2985
The attack is solid, but the moves ruin it. Its best moveset includes Counter and Close Combat. Against other fighting Pokémon, it performs significantly worse, as they have better movesets.
What’s interesting here is the way of evolution. According to data miners, Galar-Farfetch’d can only evolve if you land 10 great throws beforehand. That would be a whole new way of evolution.
