In Pokémon GO the Hoenn tour is coming up in February – once in Las Vegas, once worldwide. For the latter, the research ticket has now been announced. However, trainers are puzzled by the missing bonuses.
This is the Hoenn tour: The Hoenn tour will be a major event in February that highlights Pokémon from Generation 3. Among other things, new versions of Kyogre and Groudon will be introduced. In the past, there have been similar “tours” for the regions Kanto and Johto as a worldwide event.
The Hoenn tour will take place on two dates.
- As a local event in Las Vegas, on February 18 and 19
- And as a global event, on February 25 and 26
This has now been presented: For the second date, meaning the global event, it was announced on January 13 that a ticket for the “Masterwork Research: Fulfilled Wish” can be purchased. Here, players will need to solve difficult tasks and will have a chance to encounter Shiny-Jirachi.
The ticket is expected to cost $4.99 (or the equivalent price in the local currency) and will be available from February 20 to March 20.
This ticket only includes the Masterwork Research with Jirachi – and currently, no other bonuses are available. This raises question marks among some trainers.
Trainers wish for improved Shiny chance – but currently, it is missing
This surprises trainers: For the on-site event in Las Vegas, a “big” event ticket for $30 and add-ons have already been announced. However, for the “global” event, so far only the separate ticket for the Jirachi research is available.
Additionally, for the “worldwide” event, the special research “Legends Hunt” as well as various spawns and raids have been announced. What is still missing, however, are details on additional event content and especially increased Shiny chances that trainers are hoping for.
The official announcement even makes a clear distinction. It states: “At the live event in Las Vegas, ticket holders have a higher chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon. However, acquiring a ticket does not guarantee encounters with Shiny Pokémon” (via pokemongolive.com).
As it stands, there appear to be more bonuses for the on-site event than for the global event. This is puzzling some trainers in various threads who are exchanging thoughts on the Pokémon GO subreddit “TheSilphRoad.” Some examples:
- “If there are no other bonuses and no enhanced global Shinies, this whole thing is probably pointless. There are only a few new Shinies for Hoenn right now since the regionals are locked behind 10k eggs, so a chance of 1 in 500 Shinies doesn’t get me out of the house. I’ll just do some proto-raids as long as they allow remote raids” (via reddit)
- “$5 for Shiny-Jirachi? I think it’s better than $8 for a non-Shiny-Keldeo… But I’m really surprised they aren’t releasing a ticket to increase Shiny odds,” comments user “MysticalTh0r” in another thread (via reddit).
- “I had so much fun with the past GO Tours, hopefully, they have a few more announcements for the global tour. It would be so disappointing (for those of us who can’t afford it) if they only do all future tours in-person and the global version gets these “lite” versions…” comments another user (via reddit).
- “Man, I wish they would keep the GO Tour events exclusively global; now this event is just going to become a GO Fest clone for the next few years. At least give ticket buyers the “global, increased chance” (not the crazy, increased odds at in-person events) (via reddit).
How the event will ultimately shape up remains to be seen. It is possible that more event content will be announced as the Hoenn Tour approaches. However, this is currently completely open. As it stands, it seems there is no “big” ticket for the global tour.
How was it last year? The Johto tour was held as a global event worldwide. Back then, there was a ticket for a total of 12 euros in the shop, which provided all event content.
