In Pokémon GO there have been hints for some time regarding the introduction of a new, mysterious Pokémon. Now Niantic has shared a teaser with footprints on Twitter, further fueling the speculation.
What kind of teaser is this? A picture was shared on Twitter showing two footprints. The text reads: “Something mystical is coming, Trainers…”.
It is highly likely that this refers to the introduction of a new, mysterious Pokémon. At MeinMMO, we immediately think of Genesect, as there have already been some hints about it beforehand.
The footprints would also fit it well.

Genesect, the new mysterious Pokémon?
Why is Genesect likely? At the end of February, data miners found new content in the game that hints at the “Drives”.
These are items from Pokémon Black and White that Genesect could carry and that could influence the type of its special move “Techblaster”.
As soon as the data mining was released, it was suspected that Genesect could enter the game in March.
What can Genesect? The mysterious Pokémon could become useful. It is of Bug and Steel type and is particularly interesting as a Bug attacker. Thanks to its high stats, it could even surpass Scizor or Pinsir:
- Max CP: 3353
- HP: 174
- Attack: 252
- Defense: 199
How could Genesect be released? Genesect is very likely to be added through EX Raids. Our author Noah Struthoff speculated about this as early as January. This is supported by both the Pokémon’s story and the fact that it does not belong to a duo or trio.
Initially, the mysterious Pokémon Regigigas was introduced first through a special ticket event and then through EX Raids. It is still there currently.
But that will change this month, likely during the mysterious raid weekend starting March 20. During this time, Bug and Steel Pokémon are expected to appear more frequently in raid battles. Genesect has exactly these two types.
Are there alternatives to Genesect? On Twitter, there is mainly talk about Genesect. Other mentioned alternatives are the two mysterious Pokémon Victini and Keldeo, also from the fifth generation.
However, the footprints do not really match either of them.
The appearance of Genesect in March is therefore very likely.
- This month, many other events are also waiting for you. So many that it becomes too much for some players.
- The Safari Zone in St. Louis that was supposed to take place at the end of March has instead been canceled.
