Pokémon GO is getting a ton of new content with the new update. This includes the “seasons,” which will soon be introduced into the game.
What are the seasons? Adapted to the four seasons of the real world, Pokémon GO will change every three months starting from December 1st with the new update. Depending on whether it is currently spring, summer, autumn, or winter where you are, you will find different content in Pokémon GO.
This relates, for example, to the spawns. Some Pokémon will be more common in summer than in winter. Also, the eggs will hide different monsters depending on the season. Even among the individual Pokémon, there can be differences: for example, Sesokitz appears in different forms depending on the season.
The seasons are not the same everywhere in the world, but vary locally. In the northern and southern hemispheres, there will always be different Pokémon. During the first season starting from December 1st, you will find summer monsters like Flampion in the southern hemisphere, while winter monsters will be roaming in the northern hemisphere.
Seasons affect events, mega Pokémon, and PvP
This is how the seasons affect things: Aside from the spawns, the seasons will also be noticeable in other ways. In-game events are supposed to be seasonally themed starting from the update – and the megas will also change slightly.
On one hand, there will be different mega raids in your region depending on the season. Additionally, certain mega monsters will receive a CP boost and should be more frequently available. How exactly that will work has not yet been revealed by Niantic.
“Festive Season” kicks things off
This is how it starts in December: The GO Beyond update launches on December 1st, coinciding with the Christmas season. Appropriately, the “festive season” will be the first season in Pokémon GO. How exactly it will be structured is still open – however, it is clear that it will bring the first monsters from Generation 6 into the game. Thus, you will be able to collect monsters from the Kalos region for the first time during the festive season.
In addition, there will be several events that will also include monsters from other regions. At the very end of the festive season, a new system for worldwide events is supposed to be introduced. What exactly this will look like is also still unknown – but the start time is likely to be around March 1, 2021. One thing is certain, though, there will soon be a new maximum level.
