The Pokémon GO Safari Zone Yokosuka in Japan brings Shiny Wingull and new research that rewards players with 100,000 Stardust.
In Japan, the Safari Zone event for Pokémon GO players has now started. The present trainers are amazed by the generous rewards they can earn through the new quests.
There is confusion about the new Shiny. Wingull was supposed to appear more frequently worldwide, but that is apparently not the case yet.
Safari Zone Japan is ongoing
Today, on August 29, the Safari Zone in Yokosuka started. There, trainers on site can participate in various events if they have tickets for it. The tickets were distributed for free by lottery among all applicants.
How long does the event last? This Safari Zone runs until September 2, for a total of five days. In Japan, Pokémon like Tropius, Unown, and other special appearances will spawn.
New quests in Japan:
The rewards for trainers at the event are generous. It has already been reported on Reddit that completing the new special quests awards 100,000 Stardust.

Worldwide Shiny Wingull – Where is it?
In the announcement that Niantic published in July, the team mentioned worldwide spawns of Shiny Wingull.
“To celebrate the Yokosuka Pokémon GO Safari event, Pokémon such as Feebas and Torchic will appear more frequently in Japan. Additionally, Wingull will appear more frequently worldwide. Trainers with luck may find its Shiny form.”
Only in Japan first: The first reports of Shiny Wingull all came from Japan. Now, around 12:00 PM German time, a trainer from Australia reports that he was able to catch the Shiny form of Wingull.
These are now apparently activated worldwide. However, more frequent spawns have not yet been confirmed. They are coming this weekend, as Niantic has now confirmed.
When is worldwide catching?
The worldwide catching challenge will take place this coming weekend, on September 1 and 2. Trainers around the world can participate and unlock special bonuses. These revolve around Stardust.
The graphic shows what tasks we can expect over the weekend to unlock the bonuses. The “Hatch XP” in the tasks for America is apparently a typo. It should be bonus Stardust for hatching, not extra XP.
These bonuses will then be unlocked after the event, once the challenges have been successfully completed. A specific time for this is not yet known.
As a big bonus, Niantic will probably hold a big Lugia day worldwide. When that will take place is also still unknown and will be communicated by the Pokémon GO team later.
Together with the rewards, you can unlock the Lugia day and free raid passes
