In Pokémon GO, the hunt for the Rocket bosses and Giovanni has officially begun. The new special research brings new elements – apparently also a legendary Crypto trio.
This is the new special research: In the new special research “A Long Shadow”, the goal is to find and defeat the Rocket bosses as well as Giovanni. To accomplish this, players must collect mysterious parts and assemble the Rocket Radar.
The official announcement showed the Rocket bosses with their anticipated Crypto Pokémon. Giovanni apparently has the legendary trio of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres with him.
Legendary Crypto Trio in Pokémon GO catchable?
Here is the situation: The information regarding Giovanni is still sparse. It is known that you must complete the special research to challenge him. However, Rocket grunts can also disguise themselves as Giovanni and mislead players.
Little is known about the rewards. However, the image of Giovanni shows the legendary bird trio in their Crypto variant. The official announcement states that after defeating Giovanni, you can “catch a legendary Pokémon.” It is assumed that this refers to one of the three legendary birds.
Which Pokémon can you get? Via Twitter , “Serebii.net” has already released some screenshots of Giovanni. They have also found an image of Crypto-Articuno. The legendary ice Pokémon can therefore be considered confirmed.
How can you get them all? Nothing is known yet about Moltres and Zapdos. The community on reddit is already speculating on how to obtain the remaining birds. The possibility of replaying the special research seems unlikely given past events.
A common theory is that you can randomly get one of the three birds from Giovanni. However, you might still only receive one of the three.
Another idea is based on a medal for multiple victories against Giovanni that has been leaked. It might be possible to challenge the boss more often after completing the special research and thus obtain Crypto-Moltres and Zapdos.
