In Pokémon GO you can now receive video ads via balloon, in exchange there should be some items. It is also possible to turn off the ads.
What kind of ads is this? As some trainers report, Pokémon GO is currently able to send out special video ads.
These come, as you may already know from other ads in the game, flying in with a special balloon. If you click on this balloon, the ad will be displayed, allowing you to start the video.

How can I turn off ads? In Pokémon GO you can turn off ads by taking the following path in the settings:
- Open settings
- Select “General”
- Disable “Show sponsored messages from third parties”
- Restart the app
If the option is disabled, you should generally not receive sponsored messages from other providers in the game. This also applies to the balloons.
Alternatively, you can simply ignore the balloons if you do not want to completely disable the sponsor messages.
Trainers want better items as rewards
When, where, and under what conditions the balloons appear is currently still unclear. However, there are already initial indications of what items might be inside. User InvisibleSoul8 on reddit reports having received the following items for his video (via reddit):
- 250 Stardust
- 1 Potion
- 1 Golden Razz Berry
- 2 Sanan Berries
It remains to be seen whether there will be differing rewards per video, or if the items are generally moving in this direction.
What trainers say: In the subreddit “TheSilphRoad”, trainers are already sharing their opinions about the ads. Some emphasize directly that they would rather turn off the ads and have nothing to do with them.
Others say: They are indeed interested – if there are strong items.
- “Give me an additional permanent incubator and I would even watch all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies in a row,” says a user (via reddit).
- “I take free raid passes. No for other items” (via reddit).
- “I would do it for coins or incubators” (via reddit).
- “As long as it is optional, this is a welcome addition,” says a user (via reddit): “Especially for players with limited stops or gyms.”
