In Pokémon GO there are news about the controversial coin system that is currently being tested in Australia. We will tell you what has changed.
This coin system is about: A few weeks ago, Niantic introduced the new coin system and caused a lot of trouble. They want to test it first in Australia and wait for feedback.
In the new system, you now receive a total of 55 coins per day, but you must sit in gyms for a significantly longer time – meaning putting a Pokémon in the gym for defense. You will then receive the 5 additional coins if you complete several tasks per day.
However, the system has now been changed again, after Australian players complained massively about it.
New Coin System in Australia – Is It Coming to Us?
What has changed: So far, Australian trainers had to sit a total of 25 hours per day in gyms to earn the 50 coins. You had to sit in at least 2 gyms per day to reach the 25 hours of defense time. This means you earned 2 coins per hour. This has now been raised again to 6 coins per hour, just like it has been everywhere before.
However, Australian trainers can now only earn 30 coins per day from gyms. So, they would need to sit 5 hours per day in gyms.
The other 20 coins are only obtained if they complete several daily tasks, as can be seen in the following image:

The 5 additional coins that were available earlier in the new system are now completely gone. You can still only earn the 50 daily coins, which are now divided between daily tasks and defending gyms.
How is the system being received? Despite the adjustments, the system is facing criticism again. It is not quite understood why a previously functioning system is simply changed and now there aren’t even 5 additional coins to be gained.
On reddit , the user CompositieWhoHorrible writes: “To be clear. We are going from ‘You will receive a maximum of 55 coins per day, but it will be impossible for your Pokémon to occupy a gym long enough to earn them’ to ‘You will receive the same amount of coins that you have always been able to earn, but 2/5 of them will be conditional on finding and winning a raid.'”
Other trainers suggest that the current global system could be retained and that players should be allowed to earn the 50 coins through daily tasks if they cannot defend gyms.
As it stands, however, players will likely not be satisfied with the system currently being tested. It is quite possible that Niantic will make further adjustments.
Will the system then come worldwide? Niantic is certainly willing to implement a new coin system on a global scale. They will also see the current criticism. It is quite conceivable that they will make some changes again.
However, if the feedback improves, there would be nothing standing in the way of a global release. Until then, you can still use the old system and earn enough coins to fight against Latias and Latios this weekend.
