Frubberl appears during the Pokémon GO Community Day in May 2024. But the small Pokémon apparently is only one thing: prey.
It has been revealed: A teaser on X.com shows that the Community Day will take place on May 19, 2024. The Pokémon will only be shown for a fraction of a second at the end of the teaser: A Frubberl jumps out of the bushes before the video ends.
But attentive eyes see something else at the beginning of the video: The shadow of a bird Pokémon gliding over the bushes. This is obviously Tukanon – and this fits with Frubberl’s Pokédex entry, which is really sad.

Frubberl in Pokémon GO is only prey
This is what the Pokédex says: The little Frubberl apparently has a hard life. In Pokémon GO, it is referred to by the Pokédex as the “fruit Pokémon.” Furthermore, it states: “When threatened by a bird Pokémon, it rotates the chalice on its head for defense, which, however, rarely helps.”
That doesn’t sound good at all, and looking at other games, it doesn’t get better.
- In Pokémon Sun, the Pokédex entry states: “Its body emits a delicious scent that unfortunately lures its predator Tukanon. It relishes an aromatic snack” (via pokewiki).
- And in Pokémon Ultra Sun: “Because it emits a deliciously sweet scent, it is often attacked by bird Pokémon. However, it doesn’t mind, as it is not very bright ” (via pokewiki).
In addition, when it is scared, it secretes sweat that humans find sweet but diluted with water enjoy as juice. This sweat also attracts further enemies who find the smell great. And even the Pokémon Schlaraffel seems to like to collect Frubberl along with more berries and take it away.
In short: Things are not going very well for Frubberl in the wild. Better times are seen with its evolutions. By the way: You can prove your Pokédex knowledge here in the quiz.
What about Frubaila and Fruyal?
The evolutions are somewhat more resilient: Frubaila apparently also exudes a sweet aroma, but its flower cup is so hard that bird Pokémon can no longer break through. In addition, it now has legs, with which it can kick when attacked.
The final evolution Fruyal takes no nonsense: “This Pokémon is known for its powerful kicks. It often kicks again and laughs to announce its victory,” it says in Pokémon Sun (via pokewiki).
So Frubberl just has to survive long enough to be able to defend itself in the end. Fingers crossed.
How strong is it in Pokémon GO? Unfortunately, Frubberl including its evolutions is not particularly strong. In the battle league, it is not a good choice, nor are Frubaila and Fruyal. Fruyal can at least play a role as a budget grass attacker. However, it has received the move Tower Kick, which is classified as a fighting type. We will keep you updated as soon as more is known!
