What is the research breakthrough? The research breakthrough is achieved by collecting 7 field research stamps in Pokémon GO.
You get them as soon as you solve your first field research of the day. You can only get one stamp per day – accordingly, you can only achieve one research breakthrough within a week.
Previously, there was always a specific monster per month in the research breakthrough, but since the last season, the system has been changed. And also in the new season “Rising Heroes” there are again 6 Pokémon available for three months.
What is included in the research breakthrough May 2023 of Pokémon GO
When does the breakthrough happen? The new research breakthrough has been available since the start of the new season on March 1, 2023. It will determine which monsters you can get until June 1, 2023, at 10:00 AM.
In total, there are 6 monsters from which you will receive one during the research breakthrough. Which one it is, however, is left to chance. We present all possibilities here.
- Parasect: Is the evolution of Paras, has neither a niche in PvE nor in PvP. Additionally, it cannot be caught as Shiny from the breakthrough. However, it does bring a bit more stardust when caught.
- Pinsir: Also Pinsir is not too strong, but can be encountered as Shiny with some luck.
- Snorlax: Overall a popular Pokémon and can hold its own in the battle league. Also well suited as a gym defender. It can be caught as Shiny with some luck.
- Shroomish: Was one of the rarest monsters in the game for a long time, now significantly more common. Evolves from Spoink to Sceptile, one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO. Can also be encountered as Shiny.
- Coiffwaff: More of a monster for collectors. Can be encountered as Shiny and can change into different forms.
- Viscora: Currently quite rare, mainly encountered via 10km eggs. However, the monster is not yet available as Shiny.
In total, new content will land in Pokémon GO in the coming months. Changes have been made to the spawns, different raid bosses are waiting for you, and various events are upcoming. The season runs until the end of May, and then there will be another change in June.
