The research breakthrough for March 2020 in Pokémon GO is known. You will receive Kastadur and another bonus. But what can the Pokémon do?
What is it about? The rewards that trainers unlock through a field research breakthrough in Pokémon GO change regularly. These can be legendary, rare, or very special Pokémon that you receive as a gift when you collect seven stamps from field research.
Kastadur as a breakthrough in March 2020 – What does it bring?
When is the Pokémon available? From March 1 at 10:00 PM German time, you will find Kastadur as a reward in the field research breakthrough. You can collect Kastadur until April 1 at 9:59 PM – then there will be a change again.
What is the other bonus? In addition to Kastadur, there should be a stardust bonus for a field research breakthrough. However, it is still unclear how high that will be.
Who is Kastadur? The Pokémon has existed since the fifth generation and belongs to the types plant and steel. Niantic describes the Thorn Pokémon as follows:
Kastadur’s evolution, Tentantel, can be a powerful fighter in trainer battles. Also in the GO Battle League.

In Pokémon GO, we have been able to catch it since September 2019. It was part of a large wave of new Gen-5 Pokémon. So it is not a new Pokémon. And legendary or particularly strong, not really either. In comparison with other monsters, it is rather rare.
Such a research breakthrough is especially worthwhile if you do not already own the Pokémon.
If you are looking for a strong attacker, you will not be well served here. Its evolution Tentantel already received a new attack, but it did not make it a top attacker. In the tier list of the best PvP attackers, it finds no place.
What are the reactions to the breakthrough?
This is what trainers say: The reactions to Kastadur are muted. On Reddit one reads sentences like:
- “Kastadur. Lol.”
- “It is once a week. Can we have something nice from Niantic? At least add a chance for Legendaries, damn it.”
- “Kastadur, oh, why? Not even as Shiny. Hopefully you give us 50,000 stardust per week then.”
- “As much as I was always tired of such a breakthrough like Lugia. Kastadur as a breakthrough is somehow a joke”
- “I have never seen a Kastadur. For me, that’s okay, but I also understand why it’s not for others.”
Also on Twitter, the reactions to Kastadur are not particularly positive. Trainers also note that they use the research breakthrough in rural areas to obtain cool Pokémon. Due to the few players and raids in rural regions, they have less access to legendaries. Therefore, a rather unremarkable Pokémon like Kastadur is not well received.
