How long does it last? The research breakthrough in January 2022 is active from January 1, 2022, at 10:00 PM to February 1, 2022, at 10:00 PM.
Onix is from the first generation of the game and has been catchable since the release of Pokémon GO in 2016.

“Honestly, it’s not good, but I don’t think it’s the worst.
Fleknoil was terrible. I don’t care that they introduced Fleknoil with it, it was still a useless Pokémon and came shortly after into the wilderness. Imagine it as a breakthrough NOW.
Flower Crown Eevee was bad. Not the worst, as it had a relatively rare costume and some usefulness, but it came at a time when Eevee were still frequently found in the wild.
But it’s crazy that it’s been two years since legendary Pokémon were in breakthroughs in January. To be honest, it would be nice to have just one or two months a year with legendaries. Maybe June and December. Better than nothing.”
