In Pokémon GO Mega-Absol should actually be found. But trainers instead find Mega-Krookodile.
What is the problem? If you look at the current event overview in February 2024, Mega-Absol should actually be the boss in the Mega Raids right now. You need to defeat the Dark-type Pokémon to obtain Mega Energy for Absol and to enable the Mega Evolution for your own specimens.
But those who currently check the Mega Raids find no Absol, but rather Mega-Krookodile – which some trainers already noted on February 20 (via reddit). It’s also a powerful Pokémon, of course, but it wasn’t supposed to appear just yet.
The official event calendar of Pokémon GO also still states that Mega-Absol should actually remain the boss until February 22 at 10:00 AM, and that Mega-Krookodile would follow on February 22 at 10:00 AM (via pokemongolive.com).
As of now, there are no updates from developer Niantic regarding why this switch occurred. We will keep you informed as soon as there are new developments on this matter.
However, some trainers have now voiced their frustration about the sudden change.
Trainers actually wanted to catch Mega-Absol
In a post on reddit, trainers share their confusion. They were actually expecting more time to catch the monster. For them, the situation is frustrating, especially since the monster had not been available in the game for a long time before its recent appearance.
Those who still have not accumulated enough Mega Energy will likely have to wait longer until it returns.
Trainers express their irritation:
- “I noticed this too, and I’m disappointed because I’ve only done one raid and was planning to do another one today or tomorrow to get the rest of the Mega Energy I need,” says one user (via reddit).
- “What, it’s already gone? I still need 40 energies!”, says another (via reddit).
- “I need 50 more energies to mega-evolve my first after I prioritized Darkrai until Monday, and now it’s gone earlier than planned,” says one user (via reddit).
Why the monster was removed from the raids early is currently unclear – as is when it will return.
