Pokémon GO has addressed the Corona bonuses! Developer Niantic explains that they will be removed starting in October. However, some bonuses will remain permanently in place.
Here’s the situation regarding the Corona bonuses: These bonuses were gradually introduced starting in March. The Corona crisis was at its peak, and players were encouraged to play mainly from home. Since then, the bonuses have been active, but now it is coming to an end.
However, the bonuses will not be completely eliminated. 3 bonuses will remain permanently in the game. You can make use of them at any time.
Niantic removes 4 bonuses – Trainers are upset
These bonuses will be extended: First, the good news. Here are the 3 bonuses that will now be permanently available in the game:
- You can now permanently carry 20 gifts in your bag
- You will continue to receive triple Stardust and triple XP for your first catch of the day
- Incense will remain active for one hour
These bonuses will be removed: However, there is also some bad news regarding the bonuses. Several features will be removed starting October 1st. These include:
- Egg distances will no longer be halved
- The item Incense will no longer be as effective
- Your buddy will only bring you gifts from PokéStops once a day
- Gifts are no longer guaranteed from PokéStops
This is still unclear: Niantic had also increased spawns at the beginning of the Corona crisis. It is still unclear how this will look starting in October. Niantic has not provided information on that so far.
How do Trainers feel about the adjustments? Basically, almost every Trainer had expected that the Corona bonuses would not remain active permanently.
Nonetheless, many players are disappointed with the adjustments to Incense. The item became really good during the Corona time and was used much more frequently by many Trainers. Now it loses significant value again since a Pokémon appears only every minute.
mrbopper96 writes on reddit for example: “Incense returning to its old effectiveness is the worst news.”
Now it is definitely known that starting in October, there will be a bit more normality in Pokémon GO. Additionally, there will also be a lot of events in October. One of them revolves around the return of Shiny Meltan.
