In Pokémon GO, a raid hour with Virizion will take place today, May 13. You can play it from home again and catch Shiny Virizion for the first time.
What is a raid hour? This event usually takes place every Wednesday in Pokémon GO. After Niantic paused it for several weeks due to the Corona crisis, it is back with the second week now.
This time you can battle Virizion and catch it as Shiny, as the shiny version has been available since Virizion’s return.
Raid Hour with Virizion – All Information
When does the raid hour start? The event starts today at 6:00 PM local time. You can encounter and battle Virizion at almost every gym for one hour.
Which counters should be used? Virizion is particularly weak against the Flying type. The best counters are therefore Swablu, Rayquaza, and Zapdos.

How many players should participate in the battle? Virizion can be defeated in pairs, but you need the best counters for that. To be safe, it’s better to use 3 to 4 accounts for the battle.
How can you participate in remote raids? You can battle at all gyms that you can see in your vicinity in remote raids. So if you live near other trainers, you can team up and defeat the Virizion in the area during a remote raid.

Is the raid hour worth it? From a utility standpoint, Virizion is not particularly good. It is not among the best attackers in the game and does not shine in PvP either.
However, it has only been available as Shiny in Germany since today. So if you want a Shiny, you should take the opportunity during the raid hour.
