There is a new update in Pokémon GO that changes one of the oldest features. Not everyone in the community is pleased with this.
Aside from battling, collecting monsters is one of the two main aspects in Pokémon that likely appeal to most trainers the most. To keep track of everything, there is the Pokédex, where you can see at a glance which monsters you have already collected.
Now there is a larger update for the Pokédex, which is already active for some of the first trainers. The update not only changes the appearance but also some functions. There are criticisms from the community, as some essential parts of the old Pokédex are missed.

What is changing in the Pokédex? The entire look of the new Pokédex is different compared to the old version. The new Pokédex is now more strongly divided according to the regions from which the monsters originate.
However, currently, there seems to be some bugs. The number of Pokémon caught, displayed in the upper right corner, is not yet entirely accurate.
The categories by which you can filter your Pokédex are now the following. It stands out that, for example, there is no longer a Pokédex for 3*-monsters.

- Lucky
- XXL
- XXS
- G-Max
- Mega
- Crypto
- Redeemed
- 4*
When you click on a Pokémon in your Pokédex, you will now also see which costumed variants of the monster you have already caught. Which costumed versions you are still missing will not be displayed here.
When will I receive the new Pokédex? As is often the case in major updates in Pokémon GO, the feature is not released to all trainers at the same time, but gradually. When exactly it will be activated for all trainers is not known. However, it can be assumed that it won’t be long before the update is activated for all trainers.
What does the community think about it? In the community, there are some positive voices about the new Pokédex. However, there are also some criticisms on Reddit.
- “This looks so bad and time-consuming. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it. I want to be able to view all regions together,” writes Dependent_Chemist.
- “I think I can get used to the honestly worse aesthetics, but the removed 3*-Dex is painful for someone who has worked on it, they simply removed my goal from the game,” notes SaltedNeos.
- “I just started evolving my 3-star and 3-star shinies a few weeks ago… but that was a huge waste now,” adds the trainer trugabug.
- “Why isn’t the shiny variant shown in the shiny-dex? Or the crypto variant in the crypto-dex?” asks trugabug additionally.
