This summer, Pokemon Go is set to be released for iPhone and Android devices.
During the Nintendo stream at E3 2016, the developers announced that Pokemon Go is expected to be released in July. Together with Niantic Labs, they plan to allow players to catch over 100 different Pokemon in the initial version of Pokemon Go. Over time, more Pokemon will be added, which players can either catch or battle.
The features of Pokemon Go
For the Pokemon game in “Augmented Reality” – which means “Extended Reality” – the base version already includes cool features. For example, there is a camera function that allows trainers to photograph wild Pokemon. These photos are then stored on the phone so you can share them with others. Additionally, players can choose whether to have a virtual background or see the Pokemon on the streets of their own city using the phone camera.
The more Pokemon you catch as a trainer, the more experience points you earn. Experience is important because with a higher experience value, you can catch stronger and rarer Pokemon. Trading has always been an important aspect of Pokemon games and naturally cannot be missing in Pokemon Go. The trading function is still under development and will only be available after the launch of the game, not built into the game from the start.
Pokemon Go will not initially have a connection with the new 3DS versions Pokemon Sun and Moon.
Pokemon Go “Plus” version
In addition to the base game, there is also a Plus extension as a gadget that can be worn either on the wrist with a wristband or on clothing. For $34.99, this device connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth.
During certain events in the game, the wearer is alerted when, for example, a Pokemon is nearby. With the button on the device, players can also catch Pokemon or perform other simple functions in the game. Pokemon Go Plus is also expected to be released in July 2016.
