What kind of event is this? On Saturday, February 20, 2021, the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto will take place. All 150 Pokémon that were first discovered in the Kanto region can appear there as Shiny. There is also a chance to catch a Shiny Mew.
For players, the question is: Should I participate for free or buy a ticket for it? If you are still unsure, we will help you clarify that. Pokémon GO wants 12 € for the Kanto Tour ticket – Who is it worth for?

Which edition of the Kanto Tour to take?
How does it work with the ticket? After the purchase and at the start of the event, you will be prompted in the game to choose one of the editions, red or green. After that, you can participate in the event.
The editions differ in which spawns you encounter in the wild through incense items.
Depending on the edition, your shiny chances increase with certain Pokémon.
How do you choose an edition? To be able to choose an edition, you need the ticket for 12 €. Once you have purchased it, it continues as follows:
- Start Pokémon GO
- Open your inventory with your items
- Tap on your ticket for the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto
- Now choose red or green – depending on your preference
- Once you have chosen a color, you must confirm it by tapping on “Yes”
- Once you have confirmed the edition, there is no going back. The choice is final.
Kanto Tour red edition: Spawns and Shinys
These Pokémon spawn: If you have chosen the red edition, the following Pokémon will spawn when you use incense:
- Rettan,
- Myrapla,
- Menki,
- Fukano,
- Sichlor,
- Elektek
These are the Shinys: With the red edition, the chances of certain Shinys in the game increase. How high the chances are remains unclear.
- Bisasam, Glumanda, Schiggy, Taubsi, Rettan, Pikachu, Nidoran♀, Myrapla, Digda, Menki, Fukano, Ponita, Muschas, Traumato, Krabby, Kicklee, Schlurp, Sichlor, Elektek, Evoli, Kabuto and Dratini.
Kanto Tour green edition: Spawns and Shinys
These Pokémon spawn: If you have chosen the green edition, the following Pokémon will spawn when you use incense:
- Sandan,
- Vulpix,
- Mauzi,
- Knofensa,
- Magmar,
- Pinsir
These are the Shinys: With the green edition, the chances of certain Shinys in the game increase. How high the chances are remains unclear.
- Bisasam, Glumanda, Schiggy, Taubsi, Pikachu, Sandan, Nidoran♂, Vulpix, Mauzi, Enton, Knofensa, Kleinstein, Owei, Nockchan, Smogon, Tangela, Seeper, Magmar, Pinsir, Evoli, Amonitas and Dratini.

Ask your friends: If you are friends with other trainers who are also participating in the Kanto Tour, it can be beneficial to coordinate with them. If one chooses the red edition and the other chooses the green, you can exchange Shinys and spawns with each other.
What you should pay attention to: The event is mainly about the Shinys. You won’t find a Pokémon in either the red or the green version that is so incredibly strong in terms of its stats that it justifies a purchase on that basis alone.
So mainly look at which Shinys you are still missing and which ones you want to collect. Or coordinate within your group and agree in advance that you want to trade some.
