In Pokémon GO the Raid Hour with Virizion starts this evening, on January 1, 2020. We provide you with an overview of counters, the start time, and the process.
What is a Raid Hour? This event takes place regularly on Wednesday evenings. Then, a legendary raid appears for one hour at every free gym.
This time it’s all about Virizion. The legendary Pokémon has been available since December 17.
Information about the Raid Hour with Virizion – Start time and counters
When does the Raid Hour start? The event starts at 6 PM local time. Then, a Virizion raid will appear at all gyms that do not have any raids at that time. If other gyms become free by 7 PM, a Virizion raid will also appear there.
Gyms that have just distributed EX Raid invitations are excluded from this.
The best counters against Virizion: The legendary Pokémon is vulnerable to the types Fire, Ice, Poison, Psychic, Fairy, and Flying. It has a double weakness against Flying type. Therefore, Flying Pokémon are the best counters. These include Moltres, Rayquaza, and Chatot.

How many players are needed? Virizion can already be defeated well by two players. However, you will need the top counters for this. Alternatively, you can easily take it down with a team of 4-5 players.
Are Virizion raids worth it? The legendary Pokémon is not useful in the Pokémon meta. However, the raid rewards are more worthwhile. You can never have too many rare candies.

Are there more Raid Hours? It can be assumed that there will be more Raid Hours in the upcoming weeks. They will run as usual on Wednesday at 6 PM.
On January 7, however, Heatran will appear in the legendary raids. It will also replace Virizion in the Raid Hours.
