In Pokémon GO today, on September 1st, the Raid Hour with Lugia is taking place. We show you the best attackers for the raids and the Shiny form to look out for.
What kind of event is this? Every Wednesday evening, a Raid Hour takes place in Pokémon GO. For 60 minutes, raids featuring the event Pokémon mainly appear in the game arenas. For participants, this is a great opportunity to earn targeted candies, XP, and other raid rewards.
Today’s Raid Hour features Lugia of the Psychic and Flying types from the second generation.
Raid Hour with Lugia – Start, Counters, and Shiny
When does it start? The Raid Hour begins as usual at 6:00 PM local time. About twenty minutes before the event starts, level 5 eggs will appear in the arenas, announcing the upcoming raids. By 7:00 PM, the event will be over, and the raids will gradually return to the “normal” raid bosses.

How long will Lugia stay? Lugia is visiting Pokémon GO with the move Aero Blast. You can find it in level 5 raids from September 1, 2021, to September 14, 2021. Afterwards, Lugia will disappear again for a while.
Is there a Shiny Lugia? Yes, indeed. If you’re lucky, you can find a Shiny Lugia in Pokémon GO. You can easily recognize it by its red color.
It might also be worth your while to take some photos after fighting Lugia. Because the new special research with Hoopa includes the task of taking 3 snapshots of wild Psychic Pokémon. And as we’ve found out, raid bosses count for this task as well.
This is how you complete the task of taking 3 snapshots of wild Psychic Pokémon.
