Today, the only Raid Hour with Genesect in its Douse Form takes place in Pokémon GO. We looked into whether this short event is worth it for you and which counters you should use against the mysterious Pokémon.
What kind of event is this? As every Wednesday, there is again the Raid Hour in Pokémon GO today. During this, you will encounter Level 5 Raids with legendary or mysterious Pokémon in almost all gyms. This week, you will face the mysterious Raid Boss Genesect in its Douse Form.
Raid Hour with Genesect – The best counters
When does the event start? The Raid Hour begins today at 6:00 PM local time and lasts, as usual, for one hour. Therefore, it will end at 7:00 PM local time. Before it starts, you can recognize the dark eggs above the gyms where you can find a corresponding raid.
These are the best counters: Genesect (Douse) is a mysterious Pokémon of Bug and Steel types. Thus, it is doubly weak against Fire attacks. You should consider this weakness in your team selection. We have summarized which counters are best against Genesect using the overview from Pokebattler (via pokebattler.com):
| Pokémon | Attacks |
| (Shadow) Moltres | Fire Spin and Overheat |
| (Shadow) Entei | Fire Fang and Overheat |
| (Shadow) Charizard | Fire Spin and Blast Burn |
| Reshiram | Fire Fang and Overheat |
| (Shadow) Ho-Oh | Incinerate and Fire Blast |
| Blaziken | Fire Spin and Overheat |
| (Shadow) Magmortar | Fire Spin and Fire Punch |
| (Shadow) Arcanine | Fire Fang and Flamethrower |
| Flareon | Fire Fang and Overheat |
| Heatran | Fire Spin and Flamethrower |
Additionally, your Mega Evolutions are also excellent against Genesect. Use the following Pokémon:
- Mega Charizard Y with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
- Mega Charizard X with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
- Mega Houndoom with Fire Fang and Flamethrower
If you don’t have any of these monsters, you should definitely rely on other Fire attackers. These include Blaziken, Houndoom, Charizard, or Flareon.
How many trainers do you need? If you use the right counters, you can defeat the mysterious Pokémon with just two players. To make it a bit easier, however, we recommend at least 3-4 trainers.
By the way: One player defeated Genesect alone using only one Pokémon. We looked into how he did it and show you here.
Is the Raid Hour worth it?
Genesect is one of the Pokémon that come in various forms. One of them is Douse, which has only been available in Pokémon GO for a few days. Therefore, you should definitely secure one for your Pokédex. Visually, it only slightly differs from the normal form, so pay attention to the blue markings on the back of the cannon.
Moreover, participating in today’s Raid Hour is worthwhile. Genesect has high stats in attack and solid stamina. It is thus one of the strongest Bug attackers in Pokémon GO.
So if you still need a strong Bug Pokémon, take your chance. There is currently no shiny variant of Genesect (Douse) in the game. Therefore, unfortunately, shiny hunters will leave today’s Raid Hour empty-handed.
What’s next? Genesect in its Douse Form will be in the raids until October 12, 2021. So you still have the opportunity to catch one even after today’s Raid Hour. After that, you can expect Giratina in Altered Form as a new Raid Boss in Level 5 Raids.
Additionally, you have until October 15 to fight against Jessie and James. We will show you the best counters against the Team Rocket duo.
What do you think about today’s Raid Hour? Will you participate and secure a strong Genesect (Douse)? Or have you already collected enough specimens and will take a break this week? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments here on MeinMMO.
