In Pokémon GO the global Hoenn Tour is approaching, but before that, some legendary monsters from the region are returning in the event “Proto-Grollen” – including Rayquaza!
When does the event take place? The event “Proto-Grollen” starts on February 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until February 24, 2023, at 10:00 PM. It takes place from Wednesday to Friday before the global Hoenn Tour.
“Proto-Grollen” will bring some altered spawns and the return of an old favorite: Rayquaza, one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO, is back in the raids.
What to expect from the event we show you here.
Rayquaza with a new attack, Mega-Latios and Latias in raids
This is the highlight of the event: With Rayquaza, you can secure a particularly popular and strong Pokémon during the event. You can challenge it in the 5-star raids during Proto-Grollen.
Additionally, it will receive a new attack: If you catch it in the event from a raid, it will know the Dragon Charge Attack “Broadside.” This deals 50 damage in trainer battles and reduces the opponent’s attack value. In gym battles and raids, it deals 35 damage.
Can Rayquaza be shiny? Yes, the shiny form of Rayquaza can also be caught with luck. It looks like this:
Latias and Latios in Mega-Raids: The Mega-forms of Latias and Latios will be available in Mega-Raids during the event. Both can also be caught as shiny with luck. However, one should not underestimate the difficulty of these raids.
Bonus during the event: You will receive double XP for evolutions during Proto-Grollen. In addition, the spawns during these days will be slightly altered and hint at Hoenn.
