The Battle League in Pokémon GO often causes discomfort for players due to technical problems. The developers have now announced that they want to further improve the PvP mode.
Niantic announced: Niantic Support shared via Twitter that the GO Battle League will also be accessible during server maintenance in the future. In the past, the league was often deactivated – this was also a measure taken during server overloads at GO Fest.
However, this is just one of the steps Niantic wants to take to improve the Battle League. They want to “enhance and develop” the Battle League, according to the developers. Recently, the 3rd Season of the Battle League in Pokémon GO started with new rewards.
Fans are skeptical about the league
The mode struggled with many issues: In the past, the league repeatedly caused problems with bugs. Already at the start of the league, there were inconsistencies that dampened the enjoyment of the PvP mode. In an interview with MeinMMO, Product Manager Matt Slemon emphasized in March that there would be improvements. The league is now in a better state than at the beginning – however, fans are still skeptical, as seen in the current announcement.
On the Pokémon subreddit, some fans hope, given the announcement, that the league may now have its own servers (via reddit). However, there is still plenty of skepticism:
- “Should we now expect a league that lags so much during maintenance that it’s no improvement?” a user shows little optimism (via reddit).
- “This can only go wrong,” says another (via reddit).
Further comments criticize ongoing errors and fear that nothing will change regarding the lags.
At the same time, however, the announcement is also defended as a fundamental step in the right direction – provided no further issues arise.
How the change in the league will be noticeable and how it will be improved in the future remains to be seen. Next up in Pokémon GO is the upcoming Community Day in August.
