Actually, the stacking of quest rewards in Pokémon GO was supposed to be limited starting August 20. However, a bug has delayed this date. But fans would have preferred that Niantic take even more time with the change.
Limit for stacking: Currently, in Pokémon GO, it is possible to stack some of your quest rewards indefinitely. This involves encounters with Pokémon that are activated by completing a field research task. If you flee during this encounter, you can repeat it at any time.
Bug causes delay: Niantic plans to limit this stacking and set a cap of 100 encounters that can be stacked as rewards from field research. A current issue is causing the limit to be postponed by one week.
Berry bug in Pokémon GO leads to crashes
This bug exists in Pokémon GO: If you encounter a Pokémon that you previously fed a berry, the app freezes. This occurs when you feed a berry during a Pokémon encounter, then flee, and later call up that encounter from your stack.
Date postponed: The limit for the stacking of quest rewards was supposed to take effect on August 20. Due to the aforementioned bug, which prevents trainers from working through their current stacks, the date has been postponed by one week. Now it counts as August 27.
That’s why the community is annoyed now
The limit is generally not well received: Even with Niantic’s initial announcement, players were not pleased.
They wanted to use the stacking of so many monsters for events to collect as much stardust or XP as possible. When the Pokémon GO team explained that the limit would take effect before the stardust event at the Safari Zone in Japan, some trainers’ plans were disrupted.
They wanted to use the stardust event to catch hundreds of stacked monsters during that time and gain as much dust as possible. We explained how stacking works in another post.
Why not after the event? The new postponement is initially well received, as trainers currently cannot retrieve some Pokémon from the stack due to the bug. However, it would have been preferable if the limit became active only after the stardust event. The Safari Zone in Yokosuka starts on August 29.
On Reddit, user PsionicStormOP writes: “Still before the stardust event? This is a tilting …”. User javooq writes “Oh please, move it behind the stardust event”.
