In Pokémon GO, the next big feature should be the invitations to raids. Now, Niantic is surprisingly postponing this adjustment.
This feature is about: A few weeks ago, Niantic announced the raid invitations. This will allow you to invite friends to raids who are not nearby. They can then participate via a remote raid pass.
More than the announcement happened initially, but then nothing else came. It went quiet around the feature. Now, Niantic has announced that raid invitations will not be appearing for the time being.
No raid invitations this month
This is what Niantic says: Niantic spoke up on Twitter, stating that we will not receive raid invitations this month for the time being.
As a reason, they mention technical difficulties that prevent the launch in June.
Furthermore, they state that they are working on a later release date and will share this date soon on their channels.
What does this mean? In our interview with Niantic , the developers mentioned that remote raids will play a significant role during the GO Fest. Invitations to such raids would surely have been a good option there. Now it is questionable whether these invitations will be in the game by the end of July – after all, the GO Fest starts then.
Moreover, this will likely annoy many trainers. Especially during the Corona times, many players worldwide wish to still participate in raids with their friends. While there is the option for remote raids, it only works if you can see the gym in the vicinity. For many trainers, this new feature did not help much. Raid invitations would have improved things significantly.
What happens next? For now, we have to manage without the invitations. The program in the next few weeks offers plenty to do.
Before the GO Fest, a three-week event marathon awaits us. There are new special research tasks to solve, and more shinies will be added to the game. So, we can tackle many tasks in the coming weeks even without raid invitations.
