In Pokémon GO there are some shinies that trainers sometimes have to wait a long time for. One special shiny is one that trainers have been waiting for a long time if they haven’t obtained it yet.
The hunt for Pokémon in alternative colors, known as shinies, is a great motivation for many players in Pokémon GO.
While events like Community Days exist where the shiny chance for a Pokémon is significantly increased, the sparkling forms are relatively rare outside of events. There are even monsters that generally have an increased shiny chance.
A Pokémon that is already rare can only be found as shiny in specific events. And that hasn’t been possible for a long time.
No Chance for Almost 2 Years
Which Pokémon is this? The Pokémon in question is Farb Eagle, the Normal-type Pokémon from Generation 2. You can catch this monster outside of events with corresponding bonuses only once a day. To catch Farb Eagle, it might also be necessary to have some stamina.
Currently, it is not possible to obtain the shiny version of the monster during the daily catch. This was last possible during the Color Festival event 2023 – and that ended on March 14, 2023.
Since then, there hasn’t been another event where shiny Farb Eagle was activated in the game. If you’ve set your sights on this monster, haven’t received one yet, and can’t get a specimen from your friends via trade, you’ll have to be patient a bit longer.
What does the community say about this? In a Reddit post on the topic, there are some trainers who have been eagerly waiting for a shiny Farb Eagle since the last Color Festival event. Some trainers weren’t even aware that there is no shiny variant of Farb Eagle outside of such events.

It’s a bit crazy that a Pokémon that you can only get once a day can only appear as shiny in events. I wish they would make it permanently available with the next boosted event and only increase the shiny rate during events. That’s how it should be
