The legendary raid boss Cresselia is not well received by Pokémon GO players. Many players find the raid boss too weak.
On November 20, Niantic announced that players worldwide can challenge the legendary Psychic Pokémon Cresselia. However, the boss is not well received by most players. The Pokémon is considered too weak. Many trainers state that it is not worth spending raid passes on.
We will show you what the community thinks about the raid boss and give our own opinion on Cresselia.
This is how the community reacts to Cresselia
Cresselia was not greeted warmly in the community. The Pokémon is one of the worst legendaries overall and comes after a month with Giratina, which doesn’t help.
Players take raid breaks: The Reddit user “ChthonicSpectre” wrote about Cresselia: “It’s nice to take a break from raids for another month.”
Raid pause from Brandon Tan: Even the best player in the world, Brandon Tan, is skipping Cresselia raids. Normally he does hundreds of raids with every raid boss; he has only done one with Cresselia so far and announced he will refrain from further ones. On Twitter, he wrote that he would instead focus on catching Pokémon this month.
Bad raid bosses: Many Reddit users complain about the poor timing of raid bosses. It has been a long time since there has been a really good raid boss. “zacattack1996” wrote: “The three Regis, a short break with Mewtwo (but without Shadow Ball), then Giratina, and now Cresselia? Can we please have a raid boss that encourages people to play?”
Is Cresselia really that bad? In short: Yes. Cresselia is one of the worst level 5 raids in Pokémon GO. Its attack value is so low that even a Kissilla has a higher value. Cresselia doesn’t even reach 3000 CP and cannot compete with other legendaries even at that point. Its defense and HP values are not outstanding either.
This is what our author Noah thinks
I am really disappointed with Niantic’s choice to make Cresselia the new raid boss. After a month of Giratina, I had enough of bad raid bosses and had hoped for something better. I did not expect them to choose an even worse Pokémon than Cresselia.
Raiding in winter is tough: In winter, when every player’s hands are freezing, it’s already hard enough to organize a raid. If the Pokémon is useless, then one can expect that hardly any raids will take place this month. Such a weak raid boss should be scheduled for warmer days.
Give us Dialga and Palkia! I, like many other players, had hoped that Niantic would release the other two Pokémon of the dimensional trio: Dialga and Palkia, in time with Giratina. The two Pokémon are strong and useful. They are among the best Pokémon in the game. Instead, we get another PokéDex corpse that will never be strengthened.
If even a Brandon Tan takes a break from raiding, then Niantic has chosen the wrong raid boss. I will rather focus on smaller raids during this time and hopefully catch a shiny raid boss.
What do you think of the choice of the raid boss?
